C.D.Nayagam Theagarayanagar Higher Secondary School


C.D.Nayagam Theagarayanagar Higher Secondary School is located at Theagarayanagar, Chennai. The school provides quality education and
all-round development of male students, concentrating on the socially and economically backward sections of society.

The school was started in 1933. It was upgraded to high school in 1944 and subsequently as Higher Secondary School in 1978. The school offers courses in Tamil and English medium, conforming to the Government syllabus for classes VI to XII. The Higher Secondary School offers Arts and Science groups and Vocational - General Machinist groups. In addition the school also offers optional Weaving course for classes VI to XII .
The school has an able faculty of 35 teaching and non teaching staff members educating around 600 students annually.

The school encourages its students to actively participate in various extra-curricular activities, including the following.
1. Literary Associations - Ilango Mandram and Tagore Mandram in Tamil and English for higher classes and Bharathi Mandram in Tamil for lower classes
2. Drama Associations in English and Tamil
3. Science Associations and Fine Arts Associations
4. National Cadet Corps
5. Junior Red Cross
6. Sports – Basketball, volleyball, kho-kho, track and field, Kabaddi, Chess, carrom
7. Yoga

The School encourages students by giving 53 endowment prizes every year to students who excel in academics.
Students of the school have won many prizes in various sports in the inter-schools’ D-zone games held every year. A student of the school was selected as a member of the kabaddi team to represent Tamilnadu at the Students’ Games Federation of India held at Madhya Pradesh in 2013.
